Even though the museum is closed for now, our park is open for you to visit the train cars, take our self-guided tour, play Pokemon Go, play a game, or have a picnic. We are working hard to create fun new activities for you inside and outside!

Today we posted a new section to our website, Trains 101. It is full of information and activities for all age levels. Learn the basics about trains at home and then come to the museum to see them up close. You can access Trains 101 through the top menu of our website.
We opened this weekend, May 30th. Right now, our hours are
Friday 1pm to 5pm and Saturday 11am to 5pm
Our YELLOW LEVEL – LOW RISK Guidelines are:
1 Limit of 50 people in the park
2 Visitors must maintain a distance of 6 feet between family groups
3 Visitors are encouraged to wear masks to protect others
4 The depot and cars are closed until Tooele County reaches Green Level – New Normal
What is there to do at the Tooele Valley Museum?
1 Take our in park tour using the outdoor signs
2 Take our historical tour starting at the park and going down Vine Street
3 Visit our outdoor exhibits
4 Have a picnic! We have a pavillion and several tables scattered around the park
5 Paint or draw outside
6 Play a game in our beautiful park. We have suggestions placed throughout the park.
7 Go on one of our scavenger hunts! Ask for the paper at the front desk
8 Visit Engine 11! Go up inside a real steam engine and imagine what it was like to drive one
Tooele City Parks Department thoroughly checked the museum this morning after the earthquake. There was only some minor cosmetic damage in the Foreman’s House. There was no damage to the collection or exhibits.
Thanks again to all the city employees and volunteers who have helped secure the collection over the last few years!
As a a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, we will not be conducting any private tours through March 29, 2020. We hope to open on schedule in May, but we will be postponing the Storytelling Jubilee until July.
Until then, we will be working with the parks department and library staff to bring you Boredom Busters and other quarantine friendly activities.

A very merry time was had at the Polar Express Extravaganza. The museum teamed up with the library to bring this successful library event to the old train depot. We were able to make the Metal Spiral Wreath event even more fun and add more activities. We created a light display on Engine 11, had activities and Christmas displays in the main building, created 2 photo spots, and served hot chocolate to all.
